Religion
I do not like religion.
I do not like any religion.
Untold suffering
by trillions down the ages
uncountable.
Yet, I fully accept the right to practice religion. I have my faith. My faith and belief in a super Intelligence beyond our wildest imagination, and as unfathomable now as it always has been, and will be, even 10 million years from now. Occasionally I pray, but I am not a person who wishes to pray at given times of the day.
The day was made for me, not me for the day.
I am eternally aware of the Presence of the Almighty and in certain cases I will pray. But it is best, and most eloquently stated, by a truly great and humble person:
I am not religious, but there have been times when I have felt the need to turn to a higher being.
It's like tuning a radio – without warning,
I suddenly need to change the frequency of the waveband that I am on
to the waveband that allows me to talk to God.
It is hard to describe;
it's as if moments of acute intensity
propel me
to a different level of consciousness.
This was one of them.[i]
Affirmation
Yes.
And then suddenly
all the vagueness and hissing clears,
and we connect
one with the Other,
my voice with That Voice …
and I have my being
I have my reassurance
I have my salvation
I have my guarantee of life eternal
